FAQ's About Scratch Repairs
How do I keep my car’s paint shiny and protected?
Wash your car at least once a week (during warmer weather) and use wax to extend the shine.
Can I use touchup paint from the store to fix my scratches?
You can use various types of paints, but our mobile scratch repair technician can get the closest match for seamless repairs.
What’s the best wax or rubbing compound I can use to hide or diminish scratches on my car or motorcycle that’s been wrapped/painted from the factory in a matte color?
Any vehicle with a matte or paint with no clearcoat is very susceptible to paint contamination: bugs, chips, sap, paint/lacquer thinner, etc. Be very careful and research what the paint or wrapping can withstand.
The car or motorcycle may look amazing, but if you try to buff a matte color, you will create a very shiny spot which will stand out and can’t be undone.
Your vehicle’s exterior will need extra attention and care to make it last and continue to look attractive and new.
What wax is best to protect your paint?
Many factors come into play here, including:
- The color of your car
- What kind of buffer, foam pad, hand towel, or microfiber is used
- How often you wash your car
- • What environment the car is in daily (garage, outside in cold/hot weather, woods, under trees — tree sap, lots of driving — bug guts)
The list can be long, but we can’t limit this answer to one or two reasons or circumstances. Waxes are typically water-based and come off within a few rains or car washes
How long does the scratch repair process take?
The time for scratch repairs can vary based on the number and severity of the scratches. We can provide a more accurate time estimate with your free quote and consultation.
What if I just ceramic-coated my vehicle?
Ceramic coating is a very effective way to protect your vehicle’s exterior, but will still wear off over time.
Unlike waxes, ceramic coatings are hydrophobic, meaning water and the coating do not mix, which makes the water run off and leave few, if any, water spots. Most importantly, ceramic coatings help protect the clearcoat, which is what gives your vehicle its “shine.”
How much does a scratch repair job cost?
Since each scratch repair is unique, every case is different. Some scratches can be repaired in a few minutes, while others may take close to an hour. Our mobile scratch repair technician will assess the scratches on your vehicle and provide an estimate during your free consultation.
